We are excited to announce the upcoming National Defeat Depression Video Debut taking place on May 27th, and we are absolutely thrilled to have the amazingly talented Jessica Holmes as our host for the video presentation!
Jessica Holmes is a celebrated comedian and author who has opened for industry giants such as Ellen DeGeneres, Russell Peters, Jerry Seinfeld, and Oprah Winfrey. With her infectious humor and a punchy knack for impersonating celebrities, Jessica has performed at Just For Laughs and The Second City, and starred in the comedy series The Holmes Show and Royal Canadian Air Farce.
But beyond her comedic talents, Jessica is also an inspiring mental health advocate. Having experienced post-partum depression and "regular, run-of-the-mill, garden-variety depression" herself, Jessica is dedicated to helping end the stigma around mental health issues. She shares her personal stories with the same humor she's known for, shining a light on a topic that can often be difficult to discuss. Jessica is the author of the funny and inspiring book, Depression The Comedy: A Tale of Perseverance, and in 2018 became a Bell Let's Talk celebrity ambassador.
The National Defeat Depression Event aims to raise awareness and funds to support mental health initiatives in communities across the country. This year's event will feature a short walk, engaging activities, and vendors, all while showcasing the power of laughter and community spirit in promoting mental health and well-being.
We understand that not everyone may be available on May 27th, so we are happy to announce that the video presentation with Jessica Holmes will be made available on all our platforms after its debut, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by her message.
We invite you to join us on May 27th for this fantastic event, debuting at 6 p.m., where we'll come together to support essential mental health resources and make a positive impact on mental health in our community. Be sure to follow Jessica Holmes on Twitter and Instagram at @happyfeetholmes and stay tuned for more event updates on our website and social media channels.
Together, let's defeat depression and end the stigma surrounding mental health issues, one laugh at a time. See you on May 27th!
